The Rapids

My husband and I went to the Rapids today for my birthday. The place is a study in two things: really bad tattoos and really bad fashion decisions. I felt compelled to post about it.

Alright, here’s the deal. I’m a big girl. I had a baby 7 months ago and I’m still trying to lose the weight, but even before I got pregnant, I was a large person. I know better than to wear a tight bathing suit that is crawling all the way up my ass. But, apparently, not everyone shares my concern for the public. There were hundreds of women waddling around the waterpark in WAY TOO SMALL suits that revealed 75% of their dimply bottoms. Ew. I’m pretty insecure, so I had on shorts and a tank top over my suit. I wish other people were insecure.

There is a double standard to be had, though. I didn’t mind seeing the drop-dead gorgeous latina girls in their tiny bikinis. No problem there. It was their big ol’ mothers in their bikinis that disturbed me.

The other thing was the range of awful tats on people. Fading skulls and roses and memorial tattoos. Bad tribals. Giant Jesuses. Ugh. I don’t think I saw a single original piece of art on anybody. Maybe it was because there was so much skin showing. Maybe people keep those crappy tats under wraps most of the time.

I hope they do.
