Ahh, Mr. Trent Reznor. What would I ever do without you? My beautiful, enigmatic, genius guy. My longest celebrity relationship. My drug of choice. It started when I was 16 and he was 28. Now I’m 30 and he’s 42. My love endures. My heart still skips a beat when I see his picture. I still yearn for his voice in my ear. The sound of it instantly soothes me, even if he is screaming in a rasping, desperate howl of anguish. No matter how hard the drums pound, how angry the guitars get, how noisy and harsh and inorganic the music is, it always calms me. It always has. I have lazy daydreams of Trent going on tour with just him, an acoustic guitar, a piano and a drum kit, in tiny, smokey clubs. Like the sincere intimacy of the “Still” album, in the flesh. I actually have fantasies about Trent Unplugged. Sad. All this proves is that I can be married, with two jobs and a child and I am STILL…a fangirl.
Ninja Warrior and Katsumi Yamada

About six months ago, my husband and I were flipping channels and he yelped as I flipped past a Japanese game show. I groaned. Nooooooo. Japanese TV can be so strange and goofy. However, because I’m a good wife, I went back and we started watching the show. It was called Ninja Warrior (aka Sasuke). That was then. Now I LOVE the show. It is one of the most exciting and hilarious shows on television. It features 100 competitors making their way through one of the most difficult obstacle courses in existence. Only ONE person has ever completed the entire course.
Throughout the last year, we have watched Ninja Warrior religiously, every night as we prepare and eat dinner. As I’ve watched, I have fallen hard for one particular ninja warrior contestant: Katsumi Yamada. He is known as “Mr. Ninja Warrior” and has competed at least a dozen times. He has never made it to the end. He has struggled and fought and failed.
Yamada is hot. Very, very hot. BUT…the rippling muscles are not the only reason I love him. He has this intense gleam in his eyes when he is competing. He is passionate about Ninja Warrior, to a fault. He has alienated his family and lost everything because of his will to win the competition. When he is competing, you desperately want him to win. I root for him more than I’ve ever rooted for a hockey or baseball player.
It’s a great show.
And he’s hot. Very, very hot.
The photo does him no justice whatsoever.
